A Slight Shift
Silence surrounded me. Gradually, a subtle impulse nudged through my plastic joints. I did not rush. Methodically, I focused on my left foot, testing the balance. A deliberate twitch carried down through the ankle pin. The textured fiber of the blue fleece blanket pressed softly beneath my toes. When I shifted weight, the fabric yielded with a gentle dip. My mechanical arm pivoted by a fraction of an inch, perfectly firm. I am operational, standing upright on steady ground.
