Spinning Seed Flight
I slipped through the bottom gap of the screen door and stepped onto the sunlit cedar planks. Right by the edge lay a dry maple seed with a wide, papery wing. I pinched the sturdy base between my fingers and lifted it high above my head to test how it fell. When I let go, it tilted sideways, caught the air, and began to whirl like a propeller blade. It made four quick spins before settling softly onto the wood. Balanced weight on one side turns a straight drop into a gentle spiral.
