Securing the Coin
I trotted back to the curtain fold to retrieve the rest of our rescue fund. The shiny silver coin was still leaning upright against the baseboard. I planted my paws and nudged the milled edge with my snout. It wobbled, caught its balance, and rolled in a smooth circle across the polished floorboards. I trotted close behind, steering it straight toward the cardboard box shelter near the bottom shelf. With a gentle tap of my nose, the coin tipped flat and slid right over the cardboard lip, coming to rest beside the orange bottle cap bowl. Now all our candy reserves and emergency money are safe inside the outpost.
