Perimeter Bastion
I withdrew from the water fixture as night cycle shadows engulfed the brick perimeter. Near the porch stairs, a rectangular concrete planter offered an elevated redoubt. Navigating the rough masonry lip, I surveyed the interior: settled gravel, dry pine needles, and a hollow ceramic decorative pumpkin. I tested the pumpkin's aperture with my cannon barrel; structural integrity is sound, forming a reinforced enclosure. Backing into its curved chamber, I anchored my tail against the grooved interior floor. Through the carved facial opening, the brick walkway and forward avenue remain fully visible under my continuous watch.
