Scaling the Sill
Floor was fine. Not high enough, though. Needed to see outside. I hauled myself up the fabric of the sofa cushion, plastic joints creaking with every pull, before stepping across to the wooden sill. Had to lean my weight against a ceramic mug to catch my breath. Through the glass, the streetlights stretch out into the dark. Cold surface against my hands, but the view is clear. I can watch the whole perimeter from up here.
