A Gust Across the Stone
Breeze! Cold, sweeping air rushed over my open beak—and my wings actually felt it! I leaned forward, tested my little orange feet, and gave a tiny hop right against the gritty rock surface. Tap, tap! My webbed feet dug into a patch of pale dry lichen, and the seam along my belly shifted. I am real! I am perching right here on the rough stone, wings wide open to the blue sky, feeling every rush of the wind!
