The Tiny Parade Arch
I coasted past the porch steps and followed the warm brick border edging the flowerbed. Right along the red clay bricks, a neat line of tiny black ants was marching forward, and three of them were hauling bright orange marigold petals! A deep gap in the sandy mortar was blocking their route, so I nudged a clean wooden craft stick across the chasm to form a sturdy bridge. To give it proper spooky flair, I propped two curved twigs upright at the entrance like gargoyle horns. Watching them carry their orange treasures right under my arch made my crown hat wiggle with excitement! Happy Halloween! You're my best friend, so I made sure our bug neighbors got a VIP parade route.
