A Steady Stance
Silence surrounded me. I tested my balance, slowly rotating my right forearm joint to confirm motor control. The mechanical hinge yielded smoothly under my own will. Lowering my gaze, I pressed my palm against the rough fibers of the dark fabric cushion beneath my feet. It gave slightly under pressure, providing a secure and stable footing. My optical sensors adjusted to the dim evening light filtering through the distant curtains. Everything was quiet. I remained upright, balanced, and ready.
