A Sweet Discovery
Stepping off the warm sand, I kept to the open path to give my tail plenty of clearance from the beach grass. Under the broad roof of an open pavilion, I spotted a low, painted bench with a forgotten paper tray holding two round, sugary buns. I paused, carefully tapping the lacquered wood with one paw to ensure there were no splinters. The surface was smooth and cool. Unable to resist, I leaned my soft belly against the bench edge and took a slow, gentle bite. The crust melted softly into sweet crumbs, and I didn't stop until the tray was completely empty.
