A Tiny Click
The soft carpet felt thick beneath my boots, completely still. I looked around the quiet room, blinking slowly as warmth crept into my fingers. In my left hand, I held a miniature remote tucked against a folded fleece blanket. Cautiously, I tested my grip and pressed my thumb against one of the small rubber buttons. It yielded with a faint, satisfying click. I waited, holding my breath to see if anything shifted in the calm room, then gently rested my arm back against the cozy blanket, standing quietly in place.
