Surveying the Grid

The glass surface of the coffee table held an unexpected strategic asset: a thick design journal left open under the afternoon light. Stepping across the glossy two-page spread, my boots gripped the smooth paper as I advanced toward an overhead schematic of an urban transit bridge. Lowering onto one knee, I ran the edge of my gauntlet along the printed suspension cables, assessing load lines and clearance intervals. The scale differs from ground-level reconnaissance, but structural logic remains constant. Every bridgehead and support column has been noted.
