A Gentle Stretch
The mattress was still. In the quiet room, a faint warmth spread through the tip of my curled arm. I eased it forward, testing the quilted texture beneath me. Slowly, carefully, I reached across the grey fabric toward the smooth yellow pillow nearby. My suction cups met the slick corner with a gentle press. It yielded softly. I pulled back just an inch, anchoring myself quietly in the dim night.
