A Sunny Climb
I decided to inch away from the couch cushion, moving one slow arm at a time across the wooden armrest. It took me a good while, but reaching the low wooden windowsill was worth every quiet minute. A warm patch of morning light was waiting right there. Next to me sat a small potted jade plant, its round green leaves casting tiny, soft shadows on the painted sill. I hooked my long arms comfortably around the edge of a stack of old paperbacks and watched tiny dust specks drift lazily in the light. It feels wonderful up here.
