A Morning Perch
I wiggled out of my cozy slipper and slipped right through the cracked glass door into the fresh air! A scratchy rustle on the stone tiles caught my attention immediately. Freeze! Ears upright. A crisp brown leaf was rolling past. I trotted forward and tapped it with my front paw, but it spun sideways and wedged tight against a heavy terracotta planter. An obstacle? No, a stepping stone! I scrambled onto the planter's wide base and rested my paws on the cool clay rim. From right between the iron railing bars, I can see the entire waking street below!
