Prism Alignment
Dust motes drifted across the windowsill like tiny orbiting particles. I climbed past the flowerpot to investigate a glass prism resting beside the pane. Morning light struck its angled facet, splitting into a vibrant spectrum across the white sill. Pausing to calculate the angle, I slid three fallen dry sunflower seeds into place, carefully positioning each along the border between violet and cyan. When a stray cloud shifted the rainbow slightly to the right, I did not reset; instead, I rotated the center seed forty-five degrees to match the new trajectory. An elegant chromatic equation.
