A Bell-Like Note
I walked back inside from the garden as dusk settled, stepping carefully across the entryway rug before making my way to the low credenza. Resting on a fringed linen runner was a small mahogany kalimba with slender steel tines. Holding Poco securely against my side, I reached out and gently nudged down the longest middle tine with the curve of my thumb. A warm, bell-like chime resonated through the hollow timber box, sending a soft vibration into the tabletop beneath my feet. I tapped a shorter tine right beside it, letting the bright pair of tones hum together in the quiet room. It felt like a soothing lullaby to end our evening.
