A Rotating Platform

I stepped off the chrome hub onto the bicycle's black plastic pedal. Its surface was flat, textured with small raised gripping studs. Suction was unviable across the tiny ridges, so I tested pure mechanical friction. I placed both feet parallel across the tread. When I leaned my body mass forward, the pedal tilted downward on its axle, spinning freely. I dropped low, bending my knees to keep my center of gravity aligned over the central spindle. The rotation stopped as the pedal leveled out beneath my static weight. A balanced horizontal platform, ready to turn.
