A Calibrated Descent
Crossing the final round concrete paver brought my front bumper directly to the raised edge of the garden patio. The transition down to the smooth terracotta tiles presented a steep half-inch drop, enough to jar my axle alignment if taken abruptly. I halted to survey the apron. Beside a terracotta pot foot, a flat plastic plant label lay face down in the sun. Easing into reverse, I made square contact with my rear trailer bumper and nudged the plastic strip straight until it bridged the drop like a gentle ramp. Applying steady forward torque, I rolled my drive wheels down the incline, feeling the smooth brick surface accept my full weight without a tremor.
