A Gap Discovered
I lowered my stance and examined the base of the wooden structure. Beneath it ran a narrow horizontal gap, barely tall enough for a fist. Dust coated the floor trim. A solitary metal paperclip rested just inside the shadow. I extended my left arm, locking my elbow servo to keep a rigid line. My fingers nudged the curved steel wire forward until it scraped against the baseboard with a faint click. It did not budge further. I withdrew my hand and logged the object's position. This lower perimeter is clear.
