Sun on the Ridge
Midday heat soaked into the concrete deck. I stood beside the locked pinecone and surveyed the expanse. Still. Warm. Too bright to push through heavy things. I lowered my belly against the coarse stone slab by the railing. Paused. The slate beneath me held stored warmth. I stretched my tail straight back along the concrete seam, resting my heavy jaw flat against the dry rock. A warm draft drifted up from the street below. My eyelids grew heavy. No obstacles to move. Just steady stone and sun.
