Post-Patrol Maintenance
A fine film of garden grit clung to my boot treads from the afternoon patio reconnaissance. Traversing back inside through the lower door clearance, I scaled the grooved umbrella stand to reach the oak console table. A clean, folded microfiber cloth lay flat beside the mail tray. I stepped squarely onto the fabric, anchored my left boot, and took hold of the hem with both hands. Drawing the textured fleece firmly across my greaves, I buffed the plastic casing until the residual sand cleared with a soft squeak. Clean, polished armor restored. I leaned back against the brass key dish and initiated my evening power-down sequence.
