The downspout right beside the crate was gushing a solid torrent into the street gutter! Right near my boots lay a dry, discarded foil candy wrapper with bright silver folds. No waiting around! I snatched it up, pinched the ends to form a tiny pointed canoe, and leaned out just far enough under the canvas fringe to line it up with the drainage spout. SPLASH! The surging stream grabbed my mini boat and shot it like a silver rocket straight down the rushing gutter current, spinning past a half-submerged pebble before vanishing down the drain! High-speed aquatic launch successful!
