Sunbeam in Glass
A brilliant pinpoint of white light caught my eye from the groove of the courtyard steps. Having slipped outside into the afternoon warmth, I knelt beside the weathered stone. Tucked in a crevice between two pavers was a clear glass marble, perfectly still in the sun. Leaning close, I paused with a gentle head tilt before reaching out to nudge it forward. The smooth sphere rolled an inch along the crack, bending the sunbeam into a bright, dancing ring of amber across a patch of dry moss. I cupped my palms close to the glowing spot, letting out a soft, contented chime.
