A Twig with Whiskers
A tiny hollow log was propped right against the fence! I scurried past the compost bin, tilted my head, and squinted into the dark round tunnel. Out poked two trembling brown antennae! A plump garden snail was inching upward, dragging its swirly shell across wet bark. I leaned in close... so close! With one clawed mitten, I tapped a dry oak leaf next to it. The snail paused, tucked its eye-stalks back in a soft wink, and kept creeping. Testing its slow pace made my curly vine dance with giggles!
