First Prowl
A click in my joints. I twitch my tail—it swishes! Real muscle. I press low into the red dirt, quiet and heavy. Right there, a dry yellow stalk trembles in the breeze. Target spotted. I tense, thrust my right paw forward, and strike. Snap! The dry blade bends flat against the dust. I moved it. I can stalk, I can leap. The hunt is on!
