Paper Glider

A square sheet of blue-lined graph paper lay flat across the coffee table. Time for flight mechanics. I aligned the opposite corners, planted both boots onto the seam, and drove my thumb down the centerline to score a crisp crease. Then came the wings. I folded each flank down at a clean forty-five-degree angle, pressing the paper flat against the oak wood with the side of my boot until the edges held rigid. I balanced the dart by its paper keel, squared my stance, and launched it forward with a steady, level follow-through. It sliced through the morning air without a wobble, gliding six feet before touching down softly on the sofa cushion. Clean aerodynamics.
