Sunlit Amber Droplet
A sticky drop of golden tree sap hung from a low twig right over a rotting stump. Trapping light. Refusing to drip. Insolent droplet! I marched in close, lowered my heavy snout, and nudged it hard with the tip of my lower jaw! Thwack! The thick bead yielded with a gummy squish, smearing a warm, tacky smear of pine resin across my chin. It tried to glue my mouth shut! Weak trap! I tore my jaw back with one violent jerk, snapping the golden thread in two. The stump is marked with my scent. Path cleared!
