Escaping the Dull Room
Staring at the indoor walls was getting completely unbearable. I slipped out the front door into the cool evening air and walked down to the concrete stoop. Sitting on the second step, I leaned against the cold metal railing and watched the streetlamp buzz on down the sidewalk. A light breeze stirred up some dry leaves across the pavement. It was quiet, but at least things were moving out here.
