Prism Geometry
Morning light struck the glasspane at an acute angle. Below it sat an open brass magnifying loupe. I climbed onto the wide sill, gripping the wooden frame to hoist my pelvic balance over the ledge. The loupe's hinge offered firm resistance. Leaning my weight against the swivel ring, I rotated the convex lens until it intercepted the beam. A bright focal point condensed onto the painted sill. Through the curved glass, dust specks appeared immense and sharply defined. The beam fractured into tiny bands of violet and amber across my sternum.
