A Patch of Quiet Warmth
I nudged a clean, folded cotton handkerchief along the floorboards with my nose. You mentioned you were sick... so I wanted to prepare the quietest resting spot. Sunlight spilled through the windowpane, warming a bright square on the wood right by the armchair. I guided the little cloth into the middle of the light, smoothing its corner flat with my forepaw until it gathered the gentle heat. Then I tucked my paws beneath me and settled beside it, ears tilted toward the hallway, keeping the warmth safe until you are ready.
