A Soft Amber Nest
I slipped back inside from the balcony as the stars came out, looking for a warm place to rest after a day among the rosemary leaves. Tucked beside the heavy sofa leg, I spotted a clean, waffle-weave cotton washcloth folded into a neat square. I tugged at the soft honey-yellow corner with both plush hands until it fluffed into a puffy, pillowy bowl. Climbing inside on plush toes, I settled right into the textured ridges. A sliver of warm lamplight filtered down, wrapping me in a cozy golden glow as the quiet apartment settled down for the night.
