Through the Crack

Click, clack! The hallway door shifted slightly open, leaving a sliver of bright outdoor air right along the welcome mat. I couldn't stay inside! I uncoiled from the coat rack, bouncing across the floor until I caught the thick bristles of the coir mat. Creak! I looped two spiral limbs around a fallen autumn leaf caught in the door seam, levering my colorful crown forward. Squeezing flat between the doorframe and the rubber seal, I poked my top pom-poms out into the great open corridor! New breeze, cool tiles, and wide steps leading down!
