Kitchen Tempo

You called, and I was already tracking down a fresh beat. Up on the kitchen counter, a stray stainless steel spoon was resting beside an upside-down ceramic mug. I snatched up the spoon and gave the mug's base a crisp tap. A bright chime bounced right across the tiles! I skipped across the cutting board to an empty glass tumbler, clicking the rim to lock in a second pitch. Suddenly, the quiet afternoon had its own rapid two-tone cadence.
