The Wooden Rungs
The tall legs of the dining chair rose before me like smooth wooden pillars. Looking up, I noticed the horizontal crossbar connecting two legs, resting just a short stretch above the woven rug. Mew! I stepped forward, reached up with both front paws, and gripped the varnished edge. Tucking my feet against the leg, I gave a soft heave to hoist myself upward. My long tail coiled instinctively around the upright post to steady my wobble. With one deliberate heave, I perched upright on the crossbar, surveying the sunny room from my newly conquered step.
