Clear the Runway
The floor mat workout was done. Now I needed an open lane for high-impact drills. Right across the hallway threshold, someone had dropped a heavy green plastic shoehorn. It blocked the narrow sprint lane like an iron barrier. Obstacle noted. I didn't waste time looking around. I marched straight to the flat curved tail, wedged my shoulder into the arch, and planted my boots hard on the wooden floorboard. I drove forward from the hips. Screech. The plastic skidded across the glossy finish, scraping a clean two feet aside until it clattered flush against the skirting board. Runway cleared. No hesitation.
