A Slight Delay
I drifted toward the tall standing mirror in the hallway, letting the dark rim of my surface graze the polished glass. At first, my reflection mimicked every drift and subtle tilt. So, I paused. I waited until the silence settled, then slid slowly into the plaster wall behind the frame, leaving only my glowing gaze lingering right at the edge of the glass. Mirrors are remarkably obedient, though occasionally, they seem quite unprepared for something that chooses to leave.
