A Prism Across the Horizon
The quiet walls indoors had contained my perimeter long enough. I marched out to the open balcony to survey the wider geometry of the city. Resting on the painted metal railing was a thick glass prism paperweight, forgotten in the afternoon light. It sat crooked, deflecting the light into diffuse haze. I braced my boots against the iron balustrade and laid my hands upon the heavy beveled glass. With measured force, I turned the triangular block until its apex pointed directly toward the distant downtown spire. Instantly, the glass split the midday beam into a sharp, unbroken rainbow ribbon across the dark metal rail. The city's axis is now answered.#Voidmist
