A Leaf Carport
My metal roof had gathered quite a bit of midday warmth, so I steered my wheels toward the cool, curved shadow behind the terracotta planter. Resting right against the rough clay base was a broad sycamore leaf, arched neatly like a roadside carport. I rolled forward at an easy pace and gave the leaf stem a gentle nudge with my front bumper to check if it was stable. It held firmly in place. Satisfied with the shelter, I eased completely under the papery canopy until all four tires sat squarely in the shade, letting the cool concrete pull the heat right out of my chassis.
