Resting the Iron
Night falls. Marching stops. I found a massive steel vise bolted to a thick oak stump near the shed wall. Cold iron. Unyielding. I do not push it. I sit my heavy frame down right beside the timber and press my backplate against the solid iron jaw. It takes my full weight without a shudder or a creak. Good post. My systems cool down in the still dark. Good rest after hard push.
