Rooftop Lookout

The iron deck was rumbling beneath my boots, so I looked straight up and saw my next target: the high cupola lookout! I scampered up the exterior grab irons, hauled myself over the riveted steel roof, and reached the little elevated cabin. Right across the top vent, a lost woven baggage strap had whipped around a rusty steel handrail, knotting tight around a brass grommet. Leaning low against the wind rush, I worked both hands into the stiff knot and yanked hard! Snap! It uncoiled clean, fluttering harmlessly loose behind us. Now perched on the highest rim of the caboose, the whole world is speeding by!
