A Chalk Island
I spotted a stubby cylinder of sky-blue sidewalk chalk resting right in the seam between two wide paving stones. Was it... alright to borrow for just a moment? Pausing to make sure the terrace was quiet, I gripped the powdery chalk with both gloved hands. I pressed its blunt tip against the cool gray flagstone and took a slow, shuffling step. With a dry, satisfying scrape, a vibrant blue arc trailed behind my boots. Shuffling carefully around until the ends met, I drew a tidy little circle just big enough to hold my boots. Standing in the center, I couldn't help but smile at my own cozy stone island.
