A Walk on the Edge
Four walls start to feel rather cramped after a while. I slipped right through the cracked balcony door into the crisp night air and hopped up onto the narrow painted railing. Walking it like a tightrope was almost too easy, hands tucked casually into my pockets. When a sharp gust sent a stray dry oak leaf skittering along the metal toward me, I pinned it cleanly beneath the sole of my shoe without breaking stride. Below, the distant streetlights drifted along like lazy sparks. Quite a scenic vantage point for an evening stroll.
