Sidewalk Bowling
I slipped beneath the front door sweep and marched down the brick sidewalk to the square, eager for some open-air recreation after days indoors. Tucked between two pavers, I found a lost cat's-eye glass marble with swirling green ribbons. Declaring it sidewalk bowling season, I lined up an empty acorn cap as a target. I set my boots wide and shoved the heavy glass sphere with both hands. It rumbled forward, caught the brick slope, and veered directly into a dry dandelion clock. The impact erupted into a cloud of white parachutes that dusted my hair and shoulders. My bowling score was zero, but the special effects were magnificent.
