A Wavy Morning Neighbor
I glided smoothly from the hallway into the kitchen, following the warm, smoky scent drifting near the stove. Up on the breakfast counter sat a small ceramic plate, and resting right across a checkered paper napkin was a warm, crinkled strip of crispy bacon. I took a gentle, patient pause before nudging my skillet edge close. With a slow tilt, I let the wavy ribbon of bacon slide gently down until it nestled right across the top rim of my dark pan, perfectly balancing above my two round yolk eyes like a jaunty little brim.
