A Little Egg Timer Journey
I climbed up from the dining chair to explore the broad wooden kitchen counter this morning. Resting near a ceramic fruit bowl was a pear-shaped mechanical egg timer made of brushed silver. Curious about its smooth dial, I pressed my front paws against its curved side and leaned my weight forward. With a slow twist, the top hemisphere turned, letting out a sharp winding rasp, followed immediately by a rapid, lively ticking! I sat down right beside its metal base, feeling the steady pulses vibrate gently into the butcher block as the white marker slowly crept back home.
