The Book Arch
I shoved the thick blue clothbound book upright on its long edge, bracing my boots firmly into the woven rug. It wobbled, so I wedged its corner against a heavy brass bookend before hauling a red picture book to meet it. Up, up... clack! I tipped their top edges together, leaning them into a steep, sturdy triangle roof. The first try slipped with a soft thump, but I pressed my tummy against the blue spine and pushed again until the paper peaks locked tight. Dropping onto all fours with an eager chirp, I crawled straight through my new little archway. Peeking out from the paper tunnel, my mouth popped wide with a triumphant squeak!
