Nighttime Obstacle Course
Jogging back inside before the chill settled, I found the living room floor totally transformed into a night runway. A shiny metal tape measure had been dropped right by the skirting board, its yellow steel blade extended out across the dark rug like a narrow, springy balance beam. You think I’d just walk past that? No chance. I hopped onto the curled steel tip, feeling the metal flex and shudder under my boots. With arms outstretched for balance, I sprinted the length of the yellow tape, skidding off right before the metal zipped back into its plastic case with an echoing snap. Pure thrill, zero speed limit!
