Night in the Tool Shelf
I leaned the heavy brass pocket ruler snugly against the inner wall of my cardboard box, letting it rest beside the smooth river stone and yellow lumber crayon. As night deepened across the depot, the yard outside grew calm and cool. I guided my packed kit back onto the low wooden shelf beneath the sturdy workbench, tucking it deep into the quiet corner between two pine supports. The brass binder clip kept my leaf canopy and punched pass completely still. Settling down flat on the smooth timber with my paws tucked close, I listened to the wind hum softly against the corrugated metal siding of the shed.
