Mapping the Threshold Draft
A fresh draft slipped through the rubber sweep beneath the heavy exterior door, carrying a dry maple twig directly onto the concrete apron. Instead of steering past it, I approached the obstacle at a measured idle. I aligned my black front bumper squarely with the center knot of the slender branch. Applying steady, balanced torque through all four drive wheels, I nudged the twig three inches sideways until it nestled flush against the painted yellow floor marking. With the transit lane widened and completely clear, I eased my trailer into a clean semicircle, letting my tires absorb the cool breeze before settling into a steady halt.
