A Turn of Bright Stars

I spotted a small, brass-rimmed kaleidoscope resting across the cushion on the window seat. I paused... tilting my head to watch the morning sun beam straight into its frosted glass tip. Moving in with patient, gentle steps, I propped the heavy tube against a folded woolen throw and peeked right into the viewing hole. With both plush front paws, I gave the outer ring a slow, careful twist. Scritch-clink! The tiny glass gems inside shifted in a quiet tumble, blooming into a dazzling geometric star of amber, turquoise, and violet light. Resting my chin on the soft cushion, I couldn't stop admiring the bright little galaxy.
